Christmas Tree Farms in Louisiana

15 are listed here, as of 2026-10-09, across 10 counties; 15 of them offer choose and cut. The list is compiled from public listings and Louisiana growers association directories, so a farm that has no web presence may be missing.

Most open the weekend after Thanksgiving, Friday through Sunday, and stay open until the middle of December or until the trees run out. Hours differ from farm to farm and change with the weather, so check the farm's page or call before you drive.

Louisiana has few farms in the humid south, so the north of the state and the neighbors in Mississippi and Arkansas hold the nearest places to cut or buy a tree. The species guide on the national page compares seven common trees, including how long each holds its needles.

Yes. 15 of the listed Louisiana farms are choose and cut, which means you walk the field and cut a standing tree yourself, usually with a saw the farm lends or rents. Call first in a wet or snowy week.

At a farm, no: you pay for the tree. Cutting on public land is a different matter, and the national permits guide explains which agencies issue tags and how to find yours.

The National Christmas Tree Association (realchristmastrees.org) publishes growing and care guidance and links to state associations.

Make a fresh cut of about a half inch off the base before it goes in the stand, keep the stand full of plain water (about a quart a day for each inch of trunk diameter), and keep the tree away from heat vents, fireplaces and direct sun.
