Christmas Tree Farms in North Dakota

2 are listed here, as of 2026-10-09, across 1 county; 2 of them offer choose and cut. The list is compiled from public listings and North Dakota growers association directories, so a farm that has no web presence may be missing.

Most open the weekend after Thanksgiving, Friday through Sunday, and stay open until the middle of December or until the trees run out. Hours differ from farm to farm and change with the weather, so check the farm's page or call before you drive.

The farms listed here name Blue spruce, Scotch pine and White pine most often. North Dakota has only a few farms, so the nearest choose and cut lots are often in Minnesota, where spruce and pine are planted in rows over the long cold winters.

Yes. 2 of the listed North Dakota farms are choose and cut, which means you walk the field and cut a standing tree yourself, usually with a saw the farm lends or rents. Call first in a wet or snowy week.

The closest listed farms are in Minnesota (38), Montana (1) and South Dakota (1). Enter your ZIP in the tool to rank them by distance from where you live.

At a farm, no: you pay for the tree. On public land, often yes, and the agency sets the rules. The MyWild permit guide for North Dakota lists the units, the dates and the agency's own wording.

The National Christmas Tree Association (realchristmastrees.org) publishes growing and care guidance and links to state associations.

Make a fresh cut of about a half inch off the base before it goes in the stand, keep the stand full of plain water (about a quart a day for each inch of trunk diameter), and keep the tree away from heat vents, fireplaces and direct sun.
