Hawaii small game seasons, 2026-27

“When does small game season open” is five questions wearing one coat. Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife dates introduced game birds hunted under the division's annual game bird season announcement (pheasants, francolins, quail, chukar and other partridges, doves, sandgrouse and wild turkey); Hawaii has no grouse, and rabbits and squirrels are not game mammals separately, so each species is below under the agency’s own name for it, with the zone rows exactly as the agency lists them.

Hawaii pheasant season: read them on the agency’s own page

Hawaii dates pheasant inside a single statewide game bird season that the Division of Forestry and Wildlife sets each autumn in an annual game bird season announcement, listing the open public hunting units and hunting days island by island. The division's website refused every automated reader on the day this record was made, so the 2026-2027 announcement could not be checked and no dates are republished; the division's hunting announcements page is the source. California and Japanese quail are hunted in the same annual game bird season as pheasant, francolin, chukar, doves and sandgrouse, under the division's yearly announcement rather than a fixed statewide window. That announcement could not be read in this session, so the season is left to the division's own page. Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife publishes the current dates on its own page, linked below.
