Where to get a Christmas tree permit in California

The Sierra National Forest says Christmas tree cutting is not allowed on the forest. Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres, San Bernardino and the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit have no Christmas tree permit program on their sites and none on Recreation.gov. Sequoia National Forest also sold pre-cut trees in person at the Hume Lake and Western Divide ranger district offices at $10 each, one per household. fire.ca.gov returned Access Denied on every request, so no CAL FIRE demonstration state forest program is recorded.

Eldorado National Forest, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Bridgeport Ranger District, Klamath National Forest, Lassen National Forest, Mendocino National Forest, Plumas National Forest, Sequoia National Forest, Kern River Ranger District, Six Rivers National Forest, Stanislaus National Forest and Tahoe National Forest show the 2025 season, the most recent the forest has posted. Each forest posts its 2026 price and dates on its permit page in the fall.
