The name

Why it is called the Pink Moon

The Pink Moon is named for the moss pink, one of the first spring wildflowers, and the moon itself is not pink. Other peoples named April for the ice breaking up or the frogs starting to call.

These names come from Native American, Colonial American and European traditions, and nations named the moons by their own seasons, so no one name belongs to a single people. Names follow the Old Farmer's Almanac.
