The four questions in one

Nevada deer seasons, 2026-27

“When does deer season open” is four questions wearing one coat. Nevada Department of Wildlife dates mule deer seasons separately by weapon, so each one is below under the agency’s own name for it, with the zone rows exactly as the agency lists them.

Archery Hunt opens in 22 days, on November 10, 2026 (The unit groups the commission dates in November).

Nevada sets two full season years at once: the same commission regulation carries a 2025-2026 column and a 2026-2027 column, and the windows above are read from the 2026-2027 column. The August 10 archery opener holds across most of the state, with the southern desert units running months later.

Nevada is entirely a draw state, and the commission assigns every unit group to a dated hunt rather than running one general season. Twenty five unit groups share the standard October window, another thirty are split into an early and a late hunt inside it, and the far south runs a month later.

Muzzleloader Hunt

Nevada runs junior mule deer hunts as their own tag classes, one that follows whichever arms window the unit is in and one dated separately, so junior hunters hunt the same calendar as everyone else rather than on extra youth days.

The Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners under the authority of sections 501.181, 502.140, 503.120, and 503.140 of the Nevada Revised Statutes, and 502.4205 of the Nevada Administrative Code, does hereby adopt the following regulation for the big game resource.

Zones

Nevada deer zones

Nevada does not have a deer season. It has 8 of them, and the boundaries between them were drawn by Nevada Department of Wildlife along highways, rivers and county fragments rather than anything you can see from a stand. In several states those boundaries are not even the same from one weapon season to the next.

This page publishes the agency’s zone names and links the agency’s own zone map, which is where a hunter’s zone is determined. A wrong zone answer is a wrong season date.
