The four questions in one

Wyoming deer seasons, 2026-27

“When does deer season open” is four questions wearing one coat. Wyoming Game and Fish Department dates mule deer and white-tailed deer seasons separately by weapon, so each one is below under the agency’s own name for it, with the zone rows exactly as the agency lists them.

Special Archery

on the agency page

Wyoming archery deer season: read them on the agency’s own page

Wyoming sets a special archery window separately for every deer hunt area in Chapter 6 rather than publishing a statewide archery season, and the windows differ between hunt areas. Republishing one of them as the Wyoming date would be wrong for the rest, so the Chapter 6 table is the source for each hunt area. Wyoming Game and Fish Department publishes the current dates on its own page, linked below.

Regular Season

Wyoming firearms deer season: read them on the agency’s own page

Chapter 6 lists a separate regular season opening and closing date for each of roughly 170 deer hunt areas, with openers spread from mid September to the start of November, and no statewide window at all. There is no agency summary row to republish, so the hunt area table is the answer. Wyoming Game and Fish Department publishes the current dates on its own page, linked below.

Muzzleloader season

no season

Wyoming holds no separate muzzleloader deer season. Chapter 6 dates only special archery seasons and regular seasons for deer. Wyoming holds no separate muzzleloader deer season; muzzleloaders are one of the arms a hunter may use inside the regular season, which is a rules question for the Game and Fish Department rather than a date. Source: Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

Youth deer season

no season

Wyoming holds no separate youth deer season. Chapter 6 carries no separately dated youth deer season. Wyoming's youth provisions are licence and eligibility rules inside the same hunt area seasons, which the Game and Fish Department sets out in its regulations rather than as extra youth days. Zones

One calendar, one state

Wyoming is one of the states that keeps it simple: Wyoming Game and Fish Department publishes these windows as listed above rather than splitting the state into zones with different openers. That makes the calendar easy and the sourcing no less important, because the dates still change every year.

Which unit or county you hunt can still change what you may take, even where it does not change when the season runs. That is the agency’s to tell you, and its regulations page is linked below.
