Maine Park Road Opening Dates
Maine is one of the states where the parks publish their dates in advance, so there is something real to plan against. Below: the normal season for every road, entrance, campground and visitor centre the parks here publish one for, drawn on a single calendar; the years of actual opening dates where a park keeps that record; and the link to the page where the park posts today. Every date carries the park's own last-updated stamp, read on 3 September 2026.
Park Loop Road and the Cadillac Summit Road normally opens mid April, and the park will not put a date on it any tighter than thatMaine, in one paragraph
Park Loop Road and the Cadillac Summit Road normally opens mid April.
Closed by rule from 1 December to 14 April, with the actual spring opening weather dependent. Maine closes its park road by the calendar rather than by the snow. Acadia shuts the Park Loop Road and the Cadillac Summit Road from 1 December to 14 April every year, and its unpaved roads from 15 November to 14 May, so the dates are known a year ahead and only the spring reopening moves with the weather.
That season is Acadia National Park's own description, from a page the park stamps last updated May 19, 2025.

Acadia National Park, Directions and Transportation“The Park Loop Road closes annually, from Dec 1 through April 14, with spring road opening being weather-dependent. Most of the Park Loop Road, including the road to Cadillac Mountain, is closed to motor vehicle traffic in winter.”

3 Maine park seasons, and where each one comes from
The last column is the one nobody else shows you: the date the park itself last touched the page each season came from. Read a two-year-old stamp as the park saying nothing has changed, and a stamp from last month as the park saying something has.

Acadia publishes its own status
Nothing on this site knows what a road is doing this afternoon, and nothing on this site pretends to. Each block below is the park’s own page, with what it carries and the caveats that go with it.

Every season and quotation on this page comes from a National Park Service page on www.nps.gov, read at build time on 3 September 2026 and shown with the park’s own last updated stamp rather than ours.
