The season

What fills Moxie Falls, and when

Moxie Stream drains Moxie Pond into the Kennebec gorge country, peaking with the spring melt and holding a workable flow all year. Maine's Bureau of Parks and Lands keeps a thin web presence for the property, listing Moxie Falls State Park in its park rules; heights circulating for the falls come from third parties rather than from the bureau.

Typical best flow: Mid April through June

Getting there

Access, in the agency's words and ours

A gentle trail with boardwalk sections reaches viewing platforms above the gorge, off Lake Moxie Road from Route 201 at The Forks. No fee, no gate; state park rules apply, including the June to Labor Day hunting restriction the rules list for the property.

Current access and closures: Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands (Moxie Falls State Park).
