How Cambridge calls a snow day
When the call comes
As early as possible, the night before, but sometimes early morning.
“We do our best to make the decision about any school closure as early as possible (i.e, the night before), but sometimes weather conditions are so uncertain that we need to wait until early morning to make the call.”Source
How families hear
By phone call, text message, email, the district website, social media, the district app, local TV and radio.
“Look for a ParentSquare Alert. Download the App today >> Watching major television and radio stations for closing announcements.”About School Closings - Cambridge Public Schools

How Massachusetts counts a lost day
Massachusetts requires a 185 day calendar, at least 180 days actually held, and 900 hours for elementary or 990 hours for secondary students. Every day lost through March 31 is made up with full rescheduled days; after March 31, days are made up until 180 or the scheduled 185th day, whichever comes first.
