When the call comes

No later than 6:30 a.m. on a typical school day.

“On a typical school day, a delay and/or closing will be announced no later than 6:30 a.m.”

How families hear

By the district app, social media, local TV and radio.

“Following the district’s social media accounts are updated with information on school delays and/or closings and news related to the district.”

A 2 hour delay

On a delay morning every school starts 2 hours late.

“Delay schedules are typically two hours in length because a two-hour delay does not disrupt the end of the day schedule and does not create the need for a make-up day.”

1 built in snow day

On the 2026 to 2027 calendar, listed as “Built-In Snow Day”.

“April 30: Built-In Snow Day* ... *Built-In Snow Days Note: Built-In Snow Days will be utilized as a make-up day in the event of a weather-related cancellation. If a make-up day is not necessary, school will not be in session.”

eLearning days

Vigo has eLearning days in its winter plan.

“To comply with Indiana statute, each school closing will result in a make-up or eLearning day. eLearning may take place in the form of an Asynchronous (traditional) eLearning day or Live elearning day.”

Making up a lost day

Built in snow day first, then an asynchronous eLearning day, then a live eLearning day.

Make up dates: Apr 30.

“Unless the situation warrants otherwise, each day of inclement weather will be looked at with using a built-in snow day as a first option, an asynchronous learning as a second option, and a Live eLearning day as a third option.”
